Lefkas island has listed many times as one of the most beautiful and attractive destinations for spending summer time, because of the beauty of its beaches, the summer activities and sports and its local traditional feeling. But Lefkada weather (especially in May, June and September) makes the island a perfect summer destination, it’ s an entire year experience. The local climate of the ionian islands, the high sea and land temperature, the low rainfall ammount are some of the most important reasons, that make Lefkada the best spring and autumn destination as well.

August is the hottest month in Lefkada with an average temperature of 25°C (77°F) and the coldest is January at 9°C (48°F) with the most daily sunshine hours at 13 in July. April is the perfect season for walking rides

The mountainous area of Lefkada is full of canyons, rich vegetation, rare flowers and  pathways ideal for long walks and excursions in the nature.  During April averange temperature is 15 – 16 °C (60-62°F). The climate conditions are ideal for taking a walk without feeling too hot and exhausted.

The pathways of Skaros Mountain with the beautiful forest of Velanidias,the Melissa Gorge in Sfakiotes, the canyon of Dimosari, the waterfalls of Nydri in a green and cool place and the forest of Dafnis in Sivros, will create a breathtaking excitement to those who will decide to explore Lefkada by taking a long walk, admiring the spring blossom of the nature.

Near Lefkada’s town, we propose you to take a walk around the Lagoon to the south side of Lekada’s town, the olive grove, Fryni and Apolpena to the monastery of Faneromenis.

Mountain bike on May

The inland of Lefkada is full of green colours with hills,higher mountains and picturesque villages, magical pathways. The best season to explore all those beauties is during May.

In May, the visitors can find several organised clubs all over the island, offering the mountainbike experience. In the town of Lefkada, Nydri and Vassiliki, there are several bike rentals where you could find the necessary equipment for riding around the island. With a simple bike or a mountain bike you could follow the riding pathway from Episkopos to Nikiana and then Aghii Pateres monastery and Karya. You could also ride to Perigiali – Nydri and the canyon of Dimosari with its beautifull waterfalls.

June: The perfect month for relaxation and luxury living at Lefkada

The first summer month is ideal for visiting Lefkada island. September is still a summer month in Greece. October: For beautiful fall horse rides

In the plain of Vasiliki but also in the olive grove of Lefkada Town there are riding schools that organize unforgettable trips all year long.

Especially during October there are ideal equestrian trails, like those of the plain of Vasiliki and Agios Petros to Ai Giannis Rodakis , Marantochori Lake near Roupakia. With an average temperature based to 18°C (64°F), October is the best period to have an enjoyable horse ride, in order to explore Lefkada’s fall colours.

November: The perfect month to enjoy shoping in Lefkada town and the Villages

Most places on Lefkada have shops with traditional products.

Lefkada has a long pedestrian shopping street which starts at the beach and ends in the center . This street has a number of typical Greek narrow side streets. There are shops of all kinds of small business with local stuff to the more trendy shops with perfumes, fashion, shoes, jewelry and all kinds of handmade art objects. The must Villages to go to for shopping, a coffee and amazing local organic food are Karia with its main square full of large plane trees, Athani with its amazing sunset views, Agios Nikitas with its picturesque walkway which leads to the beach, the cafes and the taverna on the right as you end up on the beach which is hard to find. Finally you must visit Sivota, the fishing village on the south of the Island with the best fresh fish and the most traditional cafes and bars. Go to Stavros to have the fresh and perfectly grilled fish and Spyridoula for the Kalamaria, Sivota bakery for a coffee and breakfast and Liotrivi, an old oil mill, for an early afternoon apperol spritz.

When you are done shopping and village hopping, November is still a very warm month in the Ionian were the summer are hot but the winters are mild. The sea is still warm and there are a lot of beach dwellers who are catching the last of the brilliant Lefkas sun.
